Category:Collector Ponies
The very first My Little Ponies are a set of six Earth Ponies released in 1982-1983 in the United States. Worldwide distribution dates and locations are somewhat harder to determine, but it is speculated that these ponies hit global markets either by direct distribution or import from the US in the mid-1980s.
These ponies are all in the same pose, deemed the Collectors Pose by the collecting community. They feature simple hair and body colors, as well as symbols that are a cluster of the same object.
The world was introduced to the memorable "My Little Pony Theme" with the first TV commercial – seen here. Though the lyrics often changed, the tune remains the same. Lyrics to the first theme are as follows:
My Little Pony, My Little Pony,
I comb and brush her hair.
My Little Pony, My Little Pony,
Tie a ribbon to show how much I care.
My Little Pony, My Little Pony,
I take her wherever I go.
My Little Pony, My Little Pony,
Oh, I love her so.

Flat-Foot Collector Ponies
To distinguish these ponies from their later-released counterparts, the collecting community has dubbed them "Flat-Foot" or "FF" ponies. Other releases are called "Concave-Foot" or "CF" ponies, referring to their indented feet. In addition to Peachy, these ponies are the only standard release My Little Ponies to have "flat feet." These ponies also lean farther forward than later-released Collectors Pose ponies and have two large metal washers on their tails inside their bodies to counterbalance and prevent them from tipping over.
Each pony includes a ribbon and standard comb.
Early advertising – both print and TV – for these ponies features six ponies with the same spotted, Appaloosa-like symbol. Their front package art features ponies with this symbol, and the same artwork was used in later years for some Nirvana Ponies' packages.

Concave-Foot Collector Ponies
Adjustments were made to the Collectors Pose, which brought a second wave of the Collector Ponies. These ponies have "concave feet" and stand slightly taller than their flat-footed counterparts. This model is what is used for these and all other standard ponies produced in this pose. These rereleased standard Concave-Feet Ponies are often said to have duller colors than the later Mail Order Collector Ponies, but this persistent myth is virtually impossible to prove due to batch variation and the fact that these ponies are now 40+ years old.
Each pony includes a ribbon and standard comb. Two of these ponies – Blossom and Cotton Candy – are included as part of the Year Two Earth Ponies assortment, packaged with different accessories.

Year Five (1986-1987)
The Collector Ponies were offered as mail order ponies beginning in 1985. They are advertised as "the six ponies that started all the My Little Pony fun" and "Not available in any store." They were sold for $3 USD and two (2) Horseshoe Points each or $15 USD and two (2) Horseshoe Points for the set of six.
Each pony includes a ribbon and standard comb. They are packaged in a clear, sealed plastic bag that is stamped "Made in Hong Kong."
The Concave-Foot Collector Ponies were also packaged this way for purchase from the Sears catalog in 1983. It is unknown whether they are from the same production run.

25th Birthday Celebration (2007)
The Collector Ponies were reproduced for My Little Pony's 25th Birthday Celebration in 2007-2008. They were sold in two sets of three. Each package includes a ribbon and standard comb for each pony. A special midnight release was held on HasbroToyShop.com for the first 100 sets off the production line. These sets have a special seal deeming them one of the first 100 sets. Otherwise, they are no different than other 25th birthday ponies.
These ponies were made from molds created from original G1s sourced from Hasbro employees. This created differences between them and their G1 counterparts, including size, eye shape, and feet. Their hair and body colors also differ from the originals. Their bodies are harder, and their hair is lesser quality.
