Starlight Glimmer is a G4 Unicorn pony. She was introduced in Season Five of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and later appeared in the toy line.

Starlight Glimmer is a unicorn with powerful magical abilities. She serves as the overarching villain of Season Five and is introduced in the season premier as the leader of a village where the citizens have given up their cutie marks. Starlight harbors a belief that individual differences, as symbolized by cutie marks, damage friendships. Thus, she developed magic that allowed her to replace cutie marks with a black equal sign that nullifies a pony's special abilities. Because of the need to maintain her own powers, she hid her cutie mark with makeup and made up a legend about a magical item, the staff of sameness, that could perform the feat. She was defeated after being revealed as a hypocrite to her followers by the Mane Six.
Starlight Glimmer appears in cameo appearances throughout the rest of the season, and serves as the main villain of the finale, where she attempts to change the past as part of a plan to take revenge on the Mane Six.
Starting in season 6, Starlight becomes a student of Twilight Sparkle, learning friendship. She makes friends with many recurring characters around Ponyville, and saves Equestria from Queen Chrysalis in the season 6 finale. In season 8, she is a guidance counselor at Twilight Sparkle's School of Friendship.
Starlight Glimmer is voiced by Kelly Sheridan.

Cutie Mark Magic
Starlight Glimmer was released as a Playful Pony toy as part of the Cutie Mark Magic set. She had a ribbon in her hair decorated with her cutie mark, and came with a bracelet. On her front left leg is a mark that allows the owner to connect with a mobile app.
