G4 pony figurines are similar to the ponyville figurines of G3 and G3.5.
Blind Bags
'Blind Bag' is the term for a toy/figurine packaged in such a way that it is impossible* to tell which character you'll get without opening it. There are 24 ponies to collect; the five released in regular packaging (see above), 16 other ponies and 3 translucent glitter versions of Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle.
*This is not entirely true as there is a manufacturers mark code on the packaging that identifies the figure, if you know which code belongs to which figure.
