In the game you play as Sunny Starscout walking around Maretime Bay on Maretime Bay Day. Sunny can walk and jump around, but she can also put on her roller skates to go even faster. There is a butterfly sprite that guides the player if the player starts getting off track, and magenta stars scattered throughout the game for the player to pick up.
During the game, the player does small sidequests and minigames, and there is an overarching plot that Sprout has been causing issues and creating disharmony, which ultimately leads to the player as Sunny chasing him down in the last minigame.
Once the game is completed, you have the chance to replay five of the minigames from the game in the main menu by picking them from a carousel of options.

During the game, you can unlock outfit options for Sunny, and you can try them on by going to special mirrors.
