US Twinkle-Eyed Ponies Pamphlet © 1985


The Twinkled-Eyed Ponies, or TE Ponies, are another of G1’s most popular gimmicks. They have gems in place of their irises and pupils. According to Applejack’s Amazing Adventure from the UK comics, they got their Twinkle Eyes from the smashed throne of the Jewel Wizard.


The Twinkle-Eyed ponies all have four-color, striped manes and blended tails. Their eyes have an iridescent coating that is prone to rubbing/washing away over time. These ponies are also prone to regrind, primarily the pink and orange ponies.

Six of the nine Year Four Twinkle-Eyed Ponies – excluding Sky Rocket, Speedy, and Sweet Pop – are regularly featured characters in My Little Pony: The Movie (1986) and the My Little Pony TV series.
